Le Musée Magnin

En 1937, Jeanne (1855-1955) et Maurice Magnin (Dijon 1861-1939) lèguent à l'Etat leur collection et l'Hôtel Lantin exprimant ainsi le souhait de pérenniser l'oeuvre à laquelle ils avaient consacré leur vie. Composée de plus de 2000 tableaux et dessins, de mobilier, d'objets d'art décoratifs et de sculptures, la collection est remarquable par sa diversité et par son aspect " encyclopédique " même si on note une sensibilité particulière des Magnin pour le 17e siècle français. Le fruit d'une passion et d'enthousiasme d'un amateur à "l'oeil " exceptionnel, la collection est présentée dans un cadre intime et familial qui a su garder le charme d'un cabinet d'amateur.

In 1937, Jeanne (1855-1937) and Maurice Magnin (Dijon, 1861-1939) bequeathed their collection along with the Hôtel Lantin town house to the State and thus expressed their desire to perpetuate their work, the result of a lifetime of devotion. The collection is made up of more than 2000 paintings and drawings, decorative objets d'art and sculptures, and its diversity and its "encyclopedic" nature (even if their liking for the French 17th century is particularly apparent) make it remarkable. The collection is the result of the passion and enthusiasm of an art lover with an exceptional "eye" and is displayed in an intimate and familial setting which has kept the charm of the presentation room of an art enthusiast.
