Salle Vauban au musée de l'Armée : la salle des cavaliers

Depuis le 10 août 2011, la salle Vauban a rouvert ses portes au public avec une muséographie renouvelée, un nouvel éclairage, une nouvelle disposition des cavaliers et un discours recentré autour de l'histoire de la cavalerie entre 1799 et 1870. Les quatorze cavaliers présentés en vitrine sont répartis en trois grands ensembles chronologiques : périodes Empire, Restauration-Monarchie de Juillet et Second Empire. Chaque période est introduite par un panneau évoquant l'organisation et les fonctions de la cavalerie à cette époque. Chaque cavalier est accompagné d'un cartel illustré par une silhouette légendée permettant d'identifier les attributs de chaque cavalier.

On 10 August 2011, the Vauban Room in the Musée de l'Armée (Army Museum) in the Invalides reopened to the public with a new, redesigned collection. This followed an overhaul of the museum's classification methods and layout, along with the installation of new lighting, a rethinking of the arrangement of the cavalrymen themselves, and a renewed focus on the history of the cavalry between 1799 and 1870. The fourteen cavalrymen on display are arranged in three main chronological groups: the Empire, Restoration-July Monarchy and Second Empire periods.Each period is introduced by a sign explaining the organisation and functions of the cavalry at that time,and each cavalryman is accompanied by a wall label bearing a silhouette with captions identifying his main attributes.
