Giulio Romano
At the Musée du Louvre [Louvre Museum] from 11 October 2012 to 14 January 2013
This exhibition presents the opportunity to discover the career of Giulio Romano, whose original name was Giulio Pippi (Rome, 1492 or 1499 - Mantua, 1546), and gives us a sense of his extraordinary talent as an illustrator. A student of Raphael, this bold and inventive artist amazes us with the vigour of his creations. According to Giorgio Vasari (1568), it was through Romano's drawings that his ideas were best expressed and attained absolute perfection.
