Lock, stock and barrel... In a handkerchief
Exhibition held at the musée de l'Armée from 26 October 2012 to 13 January 2013
An astonishing journey into the day-to-day lives of soldiers and French society in the 19th and 20th centuries, through the many incarnations of a surprising, little-known object, ordinary but nevertheless refined: the square of printed fabric, also known as, the handkerchief or the scarf, depending on the era and its uses. The exhibition examines the rich and complex relationship between the military and civil societies.
