Army Museum

Les Invalides was originally founded by Louis XIV to welcome veteran soldiers but it now houses, amongst other institutions, the Army Museum.
Thanks to its rich and varied collections, the Army Museum recounts the history of the French army from the Middle Ages to the end of the Second World War. A special place is reserved for the First Empire and Napoleon I because the Emperor's tomb is located in the domed chapel, the Eglise du Dôme. The exhibition area devoted to the period from the end of the reign of Louis XIV to the end of the First Empire has just reopened its doors to the public in June of this year.
Not long before, the Army Museum had broken new ground with the opening of an audiovisual monument dedicated to Charles de Gaulle.
