The architectural heritage of France
The architectural heritage of France

The architectural heritage of France is found throughout the country and comprises buildings from great ancient monuments and to contemporary constructions. Since the second half of the 19th century, both well known and unknown photographers have captured the extraordinary wealth of this heritage. The image speaks to us through the very stones and symbolism of these buildings which mark the landscape of French towns and countryside. This seeming immortality also conceals the fragility of these great monuments and their need for constant maintenance.
