Delacroix as a Writer
Delacroix as a Writer

To mark the 150th anniversary of Delacroix's death, the Eugène Delacroix Museum invites you to discover the "Delacroix Écrivain" exhibition, from 15 June to 23 September 2013. The representative selection of writings, together with paintings, drawings and prints, celebrates the literary capabilities of this major 19th century artist. Throughout his life he wrote a series of notebooks, and his extensive correspondence and diaries bear witness to his skills as a letter writer and an observer of his century.
"A little persistence is needed, but having once started, I find it just as easy to write as to paint and, strange to say, I have less need to revisit what I did," he remarked on 21 July 1830.
