Angkor: Birth of a Myth - Louis Delaporte in Cambodia
Exhibition at the Musée Guimet (Guimet Museum) from 16 October 2013 to 13 January 2014.
"The sight of these strange ruins filled me with great astonishment" Louis Delaporte (1842-1925).
The exhibition highlights the work of Louis Delaporte, one of the first French explorers to discover Angkor. 250 items will be on display, including Khmer stone sculptures from the 10th and 13th centuries, plaster mouldings and reconstructions of temples, old photographs, paintings and watercolour drawings, taking us on a journey of discovery to 19th-century Angkor, now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
