Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (1618-1682)
Bartolomé Esteban Murillo was a seventeenth-century Baroque painter from Seville. Along with Diego Vélasquez, Francisco de Zurbaran and José de Ribera, he is one of the main representatives of the Spanish Golden Age and the leader of the Seville school. Most of his works have a religious theme, but he was also famous for his genre paintings, including portraits of poor children such as The Young Beggar, held at the Louvre.
