Graffiti and Street Art

Graffiti has always existed. In the 1930s, the photographer Brassaï became interested in these inscriptions, the earliest forms of which date back to Antiquity. Aerosol sprays appearing in the 1960s gave young people in the 1970s and 1980s a particularly effective tool for leaving their mark on the walls of our cities. Street Art has since then been recognized as a contemporary art movement, street artists seeing their environment as one huge blank canvas.
