The Geffrye Museum of the Home, London

Explore the art of living in England from the 17th century to the present day through the Geffrye Museum collection.
Discover how interiors, furniture, décor, lighting and heating sources have changed over time, reflecting changes in society, style, taste and behaviour.

Established in 1914, the Geffrye Museum focuses on the history of the English domestic interior. Named after former London mayor, Sir Robert Geffrye, it is located on Kingsland Road in the Shoreditch district of London.
A series of eleven rooms from 1600 to the present day have been recreated, placing particular emphasis on urban London middle class furniture and décor.
Also on the museum grounds, period gardens and aromatic herb plots have been restored according to existing documentation.
