Opening of the Museum of Civilisations from Europe and the Mediterranean (MuCEM)
In June 2013, the first museum devoted to the civilisations of Europe and the Mediterranean will open in Marseilles, the European Capital of Culture. It will be located on the site of the historic Fort Saint-Jean. With its exhibitions and comprehensive cultural programme, the MuCEM invites visitors to embark on a voyage of discovery. The Mediterranean Gallery will offer an original perspective of the history of the civilisations in the Mediterranean Region. The inaugural temporary exhibitions will include "The Black and the Blue, a Mediterranean Dream" and "The Gender Bazaar". Well worth a weekend break in Marseilles, don't you think?
