Television
The technical standardisation imposed by the USA lay behind the growth in the number of television sets. The Mitterand decree of 1948 imposed an 819-line broadcasting definition standard in France, enabling Pierre Sabbagh to present the first television News bulletin on 29 June 1949. Television brought the world into French homes.
