Installations
Monumental or miniature, temporary or permanent, intrusive or accessible, sometimes tactile, aural, visual or olfactory, the artistic installation is characterised by the way the environment around it is perceived, which changes the way the audience relates to such art forms.
This form of creative expression emerged in the Sixties within the minimalism, conceptual and land art movements and continues to be integrated into contemporary works of art today.
This year, the sixth edition of Monumenta will be held from 10 May to 22 June in the main hall of the Grand Palais, featuring a spectacular installation by artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, called L'Etrange Cité.
