Burgundy's artists
Burgundy's artists

Although annexed by France under Louis XI, the French part of Burgundy retained its own Estates and Parliament, preserving its distinct identity until the French Revolution. For centuries, its artistic history has reflected the great events of the time, the changing economic climate and the repercussions of the Paris revolutions. Great names like those of Greuze, Lallemand, Gagneraux, Bossuet, Rameau and Buffon: just a few of the illustrious Burgundians who continue to shine a light on the region and its contribution to literature, science and the arts.
