Quai Branly Museum - Jacques Chirac
“Where cultures interact.”
Initiated by Jacques Chirac and inaugurated in June 2006, the Quai Branly Museum is dedicated to non-European cultures, housing both the collections of the National Museum of African and Oceanic Art and the
collections of the Museum of Man. Built by Jean Nouvel, surrounded by a garden designed by Gilles Clément
and decorated by eight Aboriginal artists, the museum offers visitors a wide variety of activities and a selection
of artwork (more than 300,000 items) from the art and cultures of Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania.
Following an introductory museum tour, visitors discover the art and civilisations from lands, fostering
openness and dialogue among all cultural backgrounds.
