Bayonne, Bonnat-Helleu Museum
Bequeathing some of his works and his remarkable collection of paintings, ancient drawings and sculptures
to his hometown, painter Léon Bonnart (1833-1922) gave Bayonne an exceptional Museum of Fine Art. Other
bequests soon followed and enlarged the museum’s collections, bringing together the great masters, including
Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Dürer, Rubens, El Greco, Ribera, Murillo, Delacroix, and Géricault.
