Jean-Gilles Berizzi, photographe de l'Agence Photo
Jean-Gilles Berizzi, photographe de l'Agence Photo
Assistant to the greats at the Studios Rouchon, then later a photographer in his own right. In the spring of 1990, after ten years in the world of advertising photography, Jean-Gilles Berizzi joined the legendary Photothèque photo library at the Réunion des Musées Nationaux.
Tall frame, bright blue eyes, threadbare white T-shirt and crumpled jeans. A pre-grunge look in search of a place beyond...
Nothing escaped Jean-Gilles' eyes. He was captivated by everything. Not just passionate about photography, but consumed by it. By turns he was a great designer and a master jeweller, dressing even the most everyday object with light in celebration of its form, or crafting a glittering setting for a work of art.
Twenty-three years went by and the Phototèque became the Réunion des Musées Nationaux' Photographic Agency. Jean-Gilles grew with it, and made us grow too.
One Saturday evening in December 2013 the studio door closed for the last time. The lights went out. Jean-Gilles left us...
In tribute, his friends and colleagues offer you an anthology of his photographs.
