The Musketeers
The Musketeers
"All for one, one for all!"

The company of musketeers, part of the military arm of the French royal household, was created in 1622 under Louis XIII.
Recruited exclusively from the ranks of the lesser nobility and armed with muskets, they were finally disbanded on 1 January 1816.

The story of their adventures was immortalised by Alexandre Dumas in the "The Three Musketeers", a trilogy of swashbuckling fictional novels that enjoyed great success.
Pardhaillan, Athos, Porthos, Aramis and D'Artagnan: inspired by historical characters, united by a solid bond of friendship and ready to brave all kinds of dangers, these chivalrous heroes still convey values of courage and justice today.

An exhibition about the musketeer's story will take place at the musée de l'Armée from 2 April 2014 to 14th July 2014.
