Harvest time
Harvest time

Harvest time comes at the height of summer. In its representation in art, the gathering of the precious cereal takes on a symbolic value beyond the cycle of nature and of country life. And clearly, many sacks stuffed full of grain will keep food shortages and famine at bay. While praising the virtues of justly rewarded effort, the sunny and golden aspect of the harvest also symbolizes for the artist a sensuous and fraternal world.
This happy moment in July, essential to the life of a nation, represents peace, security and reason, and when presented allegorically, it quite naturally takes on the features of a woman.
Through photography, which is more realist and endeavors to depict the gestures and the tools, we can see that the very idea of the countryside originates from a culture and from its values. The wheat field remains amongst its most significant.
