Hinterland of Normandy
Hinterland of Normandy

Normandy: from the Cotentin Peninsula to the Pays d'Auge, from the Pays de Caux to the valleys of the Vire and the Orne, the hinterland of Normandy has a wealth of small wooded valleys and grassy meadows. Tranquility and charm reign in a countryside criss-crossed with hedges and trees and scattered with authentic villages. Half-timbered farms surrounded by orchards nestle in the hollows of the valleys. Verdant landscapes with grazing cattle appear with every turn in the path, presenting a view of peace and harmony.
Barbey d'Aurevilly, La Verande, Maupassant and Proust amongst others, put into words what the brushes of Monet, Sisley, Guillaumin, Millet, Troyon and Corot succeeded in depicting so poetically.
