A breeze of freedom was blowing over Philadelphia at the beginning of July 1776 as the decision to sever all political ties with the British Empire was taken by Congress. The Declaration of Independence was officially adopted on 4 July thereby marking the birth of a new nation; A nation for which great men such as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine, George Washington, La Fayette and Abraham Lincoln had struggled and fought.
