Saint Valentine's Day
Saint Valentine's Day

Saint Valentine's Day, celebrated on 14 February, is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other. The origins of this medieval festival probably lie in the Lupercalia, a grand occasion in Ancient Rome held in honour of the fertility god, Lupercus. The festivities were already being celebrated during this same period which corresponds to our month of February. In fact even the Ancient Greek civilization marked it as a period of love and fertility as it coincided with the marriage of Zeus and Hera.
Saint Valentine's Day has now become a popular celebration in a great many countries and generates a substantial amount of business from presents that couples are traditionally supposed to give each other on that day.
