Women at work
Peasants, spinners, seamstresses, lace makers, chambermaids and shopkeepers have for a long time been synonymous with the woman at work. They have always made a contribution to social life. 19th century artists, who were sensitive to the significant social changes of their time, developed an iconography of the working world, in which women are widely represented.
