Sketches and Studies by François Desportes
Exhibition at the Cité de la céramique in Sèvres from 26 March to 31 May 2012.
To coincide with France's annual Drawing Week, the Ceramics City will be exhibiting a selection of some twenty of its works chosen from amongst the 40 000 held within its Graphic Design section. The collection includes hunting scenes, animal and plant studies as well as landscapes studies and some still lifes. These sketches and drawings by painter François Desportes (1661-1743) were acquired in 1784 by Louis XVI to serve as inspiration for fine Sèvres porcelain decorations.
