Spain between two centuries from Zuloaga to Picasso (1890-1920)
In collaboration with the MAPFRE Foundation in Madrid, the Musée de l'Orangerie presents an exhibition devoted to Spanish painting at the turn of the 20th century.
Most of the artists such as Zuloaga, Camarasa, Rusiñol, Sunyer, Solana and Sorolla spent some periods of time in Paris, took part in the Salons or exhibited their work in the Vollard and Durand-Ruel galleries.
They also knew Picasso, Miró and Gris who, like them, had come from Spain, a country marked by a deep crisis, in search of a place that would favour artistic creativity.
