La Malmaison - Josephine Bonaparte
En 1799, Joséphine Bonaparte fait l'achat de La Malmaison, dès ce moment ce lieu signe son entrée dans l'histoire. Les architectes Percier et Fontaine sont chargés de mettre au goût du jour la demeure et de s'occuper de l'aménagement du parc et du jardin. Les pièces s'orneront alors d'un mobilier et d'un décor d'inspiration greco-romain que l'on peut toujours admirer. Joséphine s'est peu à peu entouréé de tableaux de maîtres, d'antiquités, d'objets précieux etc. Ce château-musée conserve non seulement une belle collection mais il nous dévoile sans indiscrétion les intimités d'un des plus prestigieux couple de l'histoire de France.
La Malmaison entered into history when it was bought by Josephine Bonaparte in 1799. The architects, Percier and Fontaine, were given the responsibility of bringing the residence into keeping with the trends of the time and designing the park and the garden. The decoration and furniture of the rooms were inspired by the Graeco-Roman period which can still be admired to this day. Josephine gradually surrounded herself with paintings from old masters, antiquities and precious objects. Not only does this château-museum preserve what is a beautiful collection but it also reveals with discretion the private lives of one of the most prestigious couples in the history of France.
